In the last six weeks, I definitely learned a lot in my tech. in ed. class. When I first came in I didn't know much about how to utilize technology in the classroom. But now I see there are so many tools that an educator can use to better the learning experience. Especially in today's day and age student need to know how to use technology. Digital tools such as screecastify, I as a teacher can record my directions on how to use something if the student isn't sure. I realized that I can make communication more clear to my students through technology. I can also gauge my classes knowledge on a subject by having them complete a daily quiz. This ensures that I am teaching the material clearly and that I can see how my students are receiving the material. I found out about google drive which features countless tools that can help me in the classroom. This class showed me how to stick out on a digital platform. Using Twitter I can be connected to modern day up-to-date teac...

Ok, this might seem lame, but since about 2014 I have had an obsession with BBQ. To the point where I want to make a cookbook and possibly sell it. Or have a side business in the summer where I can cater parties and events. The problem is that takes a lot of money. In the summer I literally fire up my smoker once a week and make ribs, (sorry if you are vegetarian) pork shoulder, beef jerky, chops, bacon, chicken, and tons of different kinds of fish. I usually don't even eat most of it. I will just give it away to friends and family and see what they think. Or I will have people over and we will just eat all afternoon. My favorite things to make are ribs and fish. My family are avid fisherpeople, we go on trips in the summer to my Dad's fishing club in Southern Illnois. In the winter we go on ice fishing trips. That's right. Ice fishing. We go on a one week Ice fishing trip every year to different locations. I have been to Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. To several d...

Response to what I saw on social media. Yesterday I saw some information regarding the terrorist attack in New York City on Halloween. The article showed pictures of the area in New York the next day as everyone went back to work and their daily lives. There was a billboard with the word "fearlessness" on it. People were riding on trains, walking the streets, shopping, taking their children out in strollers, kids were playing in the playground, feeding pigeons. Living their lives. I think the photos showed how as a country we need to not let fear dictate our lives. That's what these people want. They want people to be afraid of going out. But as a country, we need to stick together and do what we have to do. It made me feel angry and disgusted that tragedies like these have been happening. But I think with strength we can overcome this evil and become stronger by it.

My style of learning, particularly in music, was always a hands-on learning experience. I always preferred something interactive in my learning environment, as opposed to just digesting information and writing about it, or having to memorize something and forget it the next week. I was a self-taught musician, it didn't matter how many times somebody explained something to me, I needed to try it out for myself to figure it out. But as far as education I think I would dig the flipped learning style of teaching. I think most people have a short attention span and hearing someone lecture can get pretty boring. So I think the idea of interactive working, changing up the scenery and giving responsibility to students to get their work done in the classroom would be a great way of doing things. I think demonstration in the classroom would be a key element in helping students know what they would need to do and how they would need to it. For me, that was the way I learned so that...

Over the last decade technology has changed the music industry in several ways. Before you had to either build a studio or pay to book time in a studio to make music. Nowadays you can record an album from your own living room using a few pieces of affordable equipment. Not only has it changed with affordability and overall better quality, it has also changed how the public listens, views, and receives music on a whole different level. Applications like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Soundcloud give artist a chance to network their music free of charge. And also allows listeners to discover music that might fit their tastes with the "recommended for you" or "you also might like" algorithm. Artists now don't need a record label to sell and distribute their music. it all can be done via the internet. Through social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter people can follow the artists they like and the artist can promote upcoming events to keep fans engaged and u...

With technology ever-changing, there are many pros and cons that can exist in the classroom. Negative effects might include the following: Students may become very reliant on technology, instead of thinking about an answer or trying to remember something, a student might simple just "google it" instead of actually thinking of what the solution might be. For younger students the internet and digital networks can be a dangerous place. Cyber bullying can happen, dangerous tracking of information and whereabouts can happen, people pretending someone they are not, there is a lot of faceless interactions that can occur and ultimately be harmful to a student if not careful. Some students may not have grown up with technology and might "fall behind" in learning in the classroom, as well as student's whose parents that will not allow a student to use technology. Plagiarizing may become easier for a student and therefore the student can become lazy and not actually learn....
